Thai rose apple — often called "Chomphu" (ชมพู่) in Thailand — is a crisp, juicy tropical fruit that's absolutely refreshing. It looks a little like a small bell or a pear, with smooth, shiny skin that's usually rosy pink to deep red (sometimes even greenish depending on the variety).
The flesh is white, light, and almost airy inside — super crunchy and mildly sweet with a hint of floral flavor. It's less sugary than many other fruits, which makes it incredibly thirst-quenching, almost like biting into a juicy, slightly sweet cucumber. Plus, there's little to no core and usually very few seeds (or none at all).
In Thailand, people often eat rose apples fresh, chilled, or dipped in sour plum powder. It's popular in street markets because it's so refreshing in the heat.
